This timeless and classic updo coiffure can be worn as a party hair, bridal  bridesmaid's hair/updo, wedding hairstyles, the prom, homecoming, for work (depends on what kind of work!), as a flower girls hairdo, for church, informal or formal occasion, to uni,  cute little girl's hairstyle, and can be worn for Ball room dancing even!

Hi, everyone.  My name is Tina and for

today's hair tutorial, I'm going to show you

how to do a classic chignon bun updo on yourself for the holidays

that will take you about 10 min to do.

Lightly tease the crown and then section off the sides

and the top so that it doesn't get in your way.

And then tie up all the hair below the eye level in a low ponytail.

And with the ponytail, we're going to first have to make a stuffing for our chignon

so start teasing.  I'm using a tail-comb here to tease but it's better if

you use a boar bristle.

When you're done teasing, simply wrap the ponytail around your hand and

then roll upwards towards the nape before

securing it with some bobby pins.

To create more texture in the hair and to modernize this classic chignon look,

we're simply going to do a French Dutch braid, but

if you're more comfortable with a 3 strand braid you can do that as well.

If you're doing this on yourself, it helps to swing your head to the sides

to get the hair off your bun.

When you're done braiding, simply drape

the braid across the chignon and then secure it with

some bobby pins

and if you have hair sticking out, don't worry about that

because we're going to take care of it next.

And with rest of the hair not pinned up or sticking up,

after lightly teasing, insert a bobby pin into the strand before pinning it into the updo.
