Video Transcript:
Hi, everyone. My name is Tina and

for today's hair tutorial, I'm going to show you how

to do a waterfall braid, knotted half-up

and a half-up knotted updo.

This is a 2 in 1 tutorial.

The first hairstyle is going to be a waterfall knotted headband.

Before I show you how to do it on your own hair,

I'm going to first do it on a mannequin's head

so that you can exactly how I'm holding the strands and

the technique for this knotted hairstyle.

Take a small section of hair, and then wrap that hair around your 2 fingers...

and then with your other hand, you're going

to stick it in between the hole,

grab the hair, pull up, creating a half knot

making sure the ends do not pull up as well

and with your pinkie, you're going to hold

on to the tail end of that hair, so that it stays out of the way.

With your other hand that's free now, you're going

to take a section of hair from the scalp, pull through the hole,

creating a natural knot. Yank on the both ends to create a waterfall braid knotted hairstyle.

After completing the final knot, on that first waterfall, you're going to drop the

previous strand and with the new strand you're

going to start the whole process again.

Just wrap the hair around your 2 fingers,

and then with your other hand, you're going to stick 2 fingers into the hole - pull up

making sure the tail end of the does not go in as well, and with your pinkie

you're going to hold onto it so that it doesn't get in your way.

And then with your other hand that's free now, you're going to grab some hair from the scalp,

and pull through the hole, creating a natural knot.

And the most amazing thing about this hairstyle is that it doesn't even require a bobby pin,

not even an elastic, it just holds the style by itself.

You'll see what I mean at the end, you'll be just amazed.

Now that you saw it on the mannequin, I'm going to show you how to do it on your own hair,

but it's going to be in slow motion

but not for the whole tutorial.

And here we go again..

we're just gonna do exactly the same thing as before.

Take a small section of hair, from the side and then wrap it around your 2 fingers...

....{in slow motion}..... and then

with your other hand, stick 2 fingers into the hole and grab that hair pull it upwards

and grab that hair pull it upwards, creating a half knot

and then the tail, the pinkie is going to hold on to.

And then with the free hand, incorporate some hair into the waterfall knot

and then stick it through the hole - pull up all the way.

And yank on the...

..{slow motion is hard to voice over } ..

yank on the ends, and then you need to flip this

so that the previous strand will always drop,

and the new strand will become the new water, and this is most important.

So again, we're going to take that new strand, and

wrap it around the 2 fingers, with the other hand, loop it, pull up, and then

the tail end your pinkie will hold onto so it doesn't get in your way.

And then incorporate the new hair, pull-up through the hole, all the way,

and then creating a knot

and then this is all you really do.

None of this is fast forward so that you can see it.

The half knot hairstyle that you're learning today is

something that I created today myself

and I wanted to rush home to make a hair tutorial right away, because knowing me,

I'm going to forget by tomorrow.

So...I mean, I might be wrong, but this is something that I haven't seen anybody do on YouTube or anywhere else.

that I haven't seen anybody do on YouTube or anywhere else.

So I hope you guys like this. And just to clarify, I didn't invent the knot hairstyle,

just this technique, the one you're seeing right now

is something that I came up, because I was trying to think of a

way to do this certain half-up that you might see this Saturday.

And before I forget, I had a request for a straight hairstyle, THIS hairstyle

could be done on straight hair as well, I mean most everything could be done on straight hair so just your FYI.

So here are some things you need to remember as you're doing this,

always braid in the same direction

the previous piece always drops for waterfall

you always start your waterfall with the newest strand,

and if you follow my tutorial, THIS hair tutorial, you're always going to have to flip the hair,

so that the shorter piece, usually is the previous piece, will become the waterfall

So the rules are again, the latest piece becomes the new waterfall,

the older piece will be dropped.

And to end the braiding, you simply stop when ever you feel like it.

That's it. You dont have to tie it, you don't have to pin it,

you don't have to do anything.

It will hold all day.

Unless your hair is very short, it should stay like this the whole day, I've tested it.

For the Knotted Waterfall Braid, we're simply going to have to

redo the whole braid, because it requires more braiding,

so you're going to start braiding little closer to your hairline, your face, and little farther down your nape.

And then you just grab all the hair to your side,

do a 3 strand braid.

Roll it up, and pin it. That's it.

And it looks like this. Glamorous, sexy, unique, edgy, fashionable, runway inspired.....etc, etc.

Thank you guys so much for watching.
