EASY Hairstyles tutorial: HOW TO OMBRE Dip Dye Hairstyle , Sexy, Wavy Beach Hair

 Here is another easy hairstyle tutorial, How to Ombre, Dip Dye hairstyle to create a Sexy, Wavy Beach Hair on med to long hair, using the Ombre extension clip on.

 The extensions are FANTASTIC to have around the house because its not damaging to the hair (usually - better than a bleach job, anyway) AND you can take it off whenever you want! Seriously, make or buy them, it's an investment! 

These things will give you more body (thickness), and length and can be used in so many different hair looks.  And if attached properly, no one can tell that it's fake.  I made the Ombre extensions that I'm wearing in my photos and video, I'll link the How-to DIY at the bottom of this page.)

 This loose, tousled, messy hairstyle is so effortlessly chic and sexy that you can wear it all year round.   The key to this look is to make it look like you did absolutely nothing to your hair, so avoid any hard hold hairsprays, ghetto gels, or curls that look too - Uhm..George Washinton'ish?~

 (¯`'★♫♪•♥ YOU WILL NEED ♥ •♫♪★'´¯) 
▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬

• Comb
• Soft Hold Hairspray
• Heat Protectant
• Finishing Serum or oil
• Ombre Hair Extensions ( 3 short and 2 wide/long strips)
•  1" Curling Iron

Step 1:

If your hair isn't already curly or wavy, naturally or other wise, you'll need to curl your hair.  I used a 1" curling iron. Focus more on the top layers than the bottom.  

Step 2:

Attach the first short Ombre Hair Extensions piece at the bottom, lowest part of your nape  (below the ears). Please note that you can not wear your hair up if you attach it this low, because it will be noticeable when you put it up.  If you plan on wearing it up, just install your extensions higher up. :) 

Step 3:

The next Dip Dye Hair strip (wide) will be attached 1/4 inch away from the last extension clip on.   You can also just attached it right on top of one.  The closer you attach them, the more dramatic the Ombre effect will be..

Step 4: 

The last wide extension is right on the top ear mark..

Step 5:

The 2 short Ombre hair extension clip on's will be attached right above each ears on the sides of your head.  Do not go past your ears, as in, keep away from the (facial) hair lines. 

Step 6:

Now all you will need to do is, curl the top layers only. Just randomly grab a section and curl it from mid shaft to the ends - leaving at least 1/2 inch out of the iron so that your ends will look straight. You'll look like a hot mess, but that's the look we want! lol...

As far as what direction to curl.. everything away from the face ... And if you want it more messy, sexy and tousled, Ombre hair effect, simply curl the hair around the face - AWAY - then alternate the direction after that. 

Step 7:

 Reverse Teasing.  If you want to fluff your curls, which is always a GREAT idea on beachy waves look:  Grab a curl, hold it in one hand while with the other, you push the curl upwards. This will create some frizz that looks completely mussed and messy.  Perfect!

Step 8:

Hair Spray:  Lift the hair up, then drop them slowly while spraying it.  Watch my video..This will fluff up your Beachy Waves.

How to Fishtail Braid Easy Hairstyle Tutorial - Sexy Rock Star Fishtail Side Braid Updo

In this week's easy, step by step, Hairstyle tutorial, I'm going to show you how to Fishtail Braid updo with a Rock and Roll edge on long hair. I'm calling it the sexy Rock Star Fishtail side braid updo.

As always, doing this on damp hair  or spritzing your hair with a soft hair gel will make it more neat, and if you have a lot of layers in your hair, expect a few hairs to stick out.

Step 1:

 Start off by curling ironing your hair (unless your long to medium hair is already curly or wavy).  I used my Cortext Curling Iron in 1/2 inch rod and made sure that my hair was heat protected by using my favorite hair protectant at the moment - Kendi Oil.

Step 2:

 Split your hair into 3 sections, and pin, clip or tie the sides in place, so that when you start French Fishtail braiding, it doesn't get in your way.

• Crown
• Left  side
• Right side 

Step 3:

 Tease the crown if you like big hair (which I do!) then tie it up, making sure you're leaving some hair around your face out so it will fall soft and wispy around your face (note my 2nd photo up above).

I like using a small Boar Bristle round brush to tease, they really do work the best for any serious teasing!   Tying or clipping the crown  will make French braiding in Fishtail braid hairstyle on long hair, a lot easier.

Step4:

In case you don't know how, here is a quick " How to Fishtail Braid":

• Split your hair into TWO even bundles/sections, not three like a regular braiding.  We'll call one of the sections "main side" and the other one the "other side"
• Take a small (smaller, the cuter it will come out but it's more time consuming) piece from the outside of the "main side" and give it to the "other side". 
• Then take a small piece from the outside of "the other side" and give to the main side.

(I took big sections instead of small so it will show better on film)

Step 5:

 Back to our original Hairstyle Tutorial.  Start Fishtail French braiding the middle section, stopping when you reach your ears.  Then, you'll switch to a regular fishtail braiding instead of French Fishtail. Fluff and loosen the braids after you're done.

Fishtail French Braid is very similar to the regular French Braiding.  Just grab a very tiny piece that is outside of your 2 big bundles  before you separate a small strand from  your bundle before giving to the other bundle.

Also, hair spraying - Sebastian Shaper -  the braid before running your hands down the braid will easily calm the fly-aways. 

Step 6:

Tie the side hair that's been clipped away around the French Fishtail Braid.

 Finish with fluffing and back combing the hair that's sticking out.  :)

Hairstyles: HOW TO FRENCH BRAID WRAP-AROUND UPDO ON LONG HAIR

Learn how to do this easy hairstyle, Romantic French Braid (also known as a Dutch braid) Wrap-Around Updo.  Great for those hot, humid months in the summer, where just a plain 'ol Ponytail can get old fast.

The best part of this breezy updo is that, it can also be worn dressy, for bridal parties and weddings by simply weaving in a few sunny and cheerful flowers into the hair.  

My photo: No products were used, and I have lots of layers. :)

Before we start, some helpful tips:

• Doing this on damp hair will make the look more neat.
• Applying some soft hair gel or wax to the ends of the  hair before braiding, will help it stand up better in the hottest humidity.
• Best scenario is to blow dry the hair completely on the roots so that you don't look like a 7 year old girl, and dampening and waxing/geling the ends right before braiding it.  :)
• Make sure your hair spray is the soft - matte kind like this, and it is especially important to minimize any flyaways around the face for any fancy occasions like a wedding.   Yes, I meant for brides and bride's maids updos.   :)

Step 1:

Prep  (gel for damp hair braiding) or  Curl your hair (1/2 inc rod works best) if you're doing this on dry hair.  If you're doing this on completely dry hair and want to look neat, apply some hair wax to the ends of your hair.

Step 2: 

Split your hair into 2 sections, making sure to leave out some hair around your bangs.

Step 3:

Clip one side away so that  it doesn't interfere with the side you're Dutch or French braiding.

 Step 4:

Braid both sides (pigtail braid), making sure that you're fluffing  the braids so that they don't look too tight. Tie the ends.

Step 5:

Swing one of the braids to the back of your head and pin it to the lower back, following the shape of your head. 

 Step 6:

Secure the other braid to the lower back.

Step 7:

Tuck in the ends of both French Braids so that it doesn't show.

All done!  Just smooth down fly-aways if you want, or look relaxed and carefree with some pieces sticking out. :)

Hairstyles: Bohemian French Braid with Waterfall Braid Bangs

I love Bohemian hairstyles with any type of a  French Braid in them, who doesn't?  Today's hairstyle will have an under side French Braid, also known as the Dutch Braid, and to make it more interesting, I added a few Waterfall braids (aka Cascade braids) in the bang/fringe area to maintain the soft, wispy, sexiness that I like in my hairstyles.

I usually take a lot of step-by-step photo's for my tutorials, "unless" I'm making a hair  tutorial on Youtube, which I've done today - sorry, the YT videos came out so damn bright, argh!   And OMG,  I have this one LONG ass strand of grey hair that I didn't even know I had!! haha



Please refer to my Youtube Hairstyles Video - posted at the bottom of this page -  and ask/comment below if you have any questions. :)

 1) Always curls your hair first.  Simply because it makes handling the hair easier on you. I applied a soft gel on my wet hair -  Matrix Biolage Gelee, so that my hair would hold a curl, and  my favorite heat protectant  - Kendi Oil (AMAZING stuff) so  that I dont end up frying my hair with my super nice, but hot as  effing lava, Pro,  1/2 inch  Cortex Titanium Curling Iron.

2) Split the hair into two pigtails and clip one side away.

3) Pull out a few bangs/fringe pieces around your hairline.  If you yank out the hairs in a V slicing motion, the hair will fall more wispy.   :)

4) Start French Braiding, but instead of braiding over the loops - like a normal french braid, you're pulling the hair DOWN then up.

5) Make two braids then we're dropping a chunk of hair in the front to make a Waterfall Braid. 

 The trick to this is to drop only about  80% of the hair, so that you don't loose your momentum.  If you drop 1 whole bundle, and you're left with only 2 strands,  you'll be left thinking.. "WTF..." and end up losing your rhythm.  So, if you know how to French Braid, and you can keep what I said in mind, then you got Waterfall braid covered.

6) Only do about 2~ 3 Waterfall braids for this look.  Because it will look too heavy and bulky other wise.

7)  Continue down and braid til the ends.  Before tying it, fluff and loosen your braids so that it looks Fat and fluffy as clouds.

8)  Other side is just plain Dutch braid, nothing special. Rinse and repeat.  :)

 Apply on WET Hair:

Oil

 Kendi Oil   (yes, this goes on WET hair)

Apply on DRY Hair

Hairspray: use Shaper

How to Make a Chignon Hairstyle - Bridal Updo with Braid

Here is an easy to follow, step by step, hair tutorial on how you can make a Chignon Bridal Updo Hairstyle.  In this vintage inspired retro updo, we're going to add a modern twist and youthfulness to this 40s chignon with a side french braid.

 I will be using my mannequin here, please note that my doll's hair is quite thin so you will see patches of baldness on the scalp. Moreover,  since her hair is dark brown / black, and it's absorbing the light, it will not photograph as well as blonds.

 
1) Always start off by curling your hair.  I do on clients but since my doll isn't going anywhere but the closet, I didn't bother. 

 Use a 1/2  inch curling iron or  better yet,  especially for this Chignon updo style, use a hair crimper on the ends if you have it.  

2) Section off your hair.   

3)  Tease the roots on the crown area. 

  For this look, since it is a dressier updo , which is great with evening  gowns, weddings and big events, you can tease it WAY high.

4) Pin down all the hair below your ears, close to your nape.   You want them firmly secured down so that it doesn't move.  Feel free to use as many pins here as you want. 


5) Grab all the hair in the back and create 2 sections, then tease the ends of the  two bundles. 

 This is why I said a hair crimper would have been better for this Chignon hairstyle, it makes this part easier.  You want to tease all the ends, then smooth down the "under side" using a hairspray and slowly and neatly roll it towards the scalp like an egg roll.  Bobbi pin them to the head. 


6) Do this on both sides.



7)  Your chignon should look something like this, don't worry about the pins that are still showing, we're going to cover that up with the braid.  After you've securely pinned them down, you're going to start french braiding the sides to the back. 

8)  As you're  french braiding it to the back of your head, start loosening and fluffing the braids (because it's more attractive than tight braids). 

9)  Pin it to the back and over the bobbie pins that were showing before.  Do this on both sides.  

On my doll, I chosed to go with a side part.

 Tuck in all the loose hair or curl them into the center.

And here is the final look.  I need to stop taking photo's at night, my pics are all coming out pretty crappy because of the flash ....
